Great Basin Fiber Arts Fair
Skein and Finished Items Competition 2011

Welcome to the Great Basin Fiber Arts Fair Competition and Exhibit.  Our goal is to recognize the diversity and quality of fiber arts produced in Rocky Mountain and the Intermountain West!

Bring us your handspun skeins:

singles and all plies

natural and dyed

exquisitely uniform – novelty or downright funky

wool – silk – flax – cotton – alpaca – mohair – family pet – etc.

We want your knitted, crocheted, woven, felted, braided, spranged, tatted, hooked, knotted, etc. etc.  Sweaters, hats, scarves, shawls, socks, rugs, bags, baskets, blankets, etc. etc.

Share your creations with one another and amaze and educate the public with the creative possibilities of wool and other fibers.  Receive acclaim and admiration from visitors and your fellow spinners and take the opportunity to learn from an objective evaluation of your work (entrants will receive a written evaluation).  In addition, winning entries will receive cool prizes.

Young spinners (ages fifteen and under) are encouraged to enter skeins and demonstrate that our craft is thriving in the next generation.

Text Box: We are tickled to announce that Louise Pratt-Mecham will be our judge for the 2011 GBFAF Fiber Competition. Though not a spinner, she has crocheted, sewn and knit for many years, and has a great feel for the fiber arts and has been an enthusiastic member and supporter of the Wasatch Woolpack Handspinners for many years.
She was a little nervous about be a judge, claiming she hasn’t ever judged anything before, but her daughter reminded her, “You’ve been judging me, my whole life!” Thus, she has the needed skills for the job. ;-)
